Designer, Doctoral Candidate and Research Adviser, Edith Cowan University.
Ali Blackwell is a Designer, Doctoral Candidate and Research Adviser at Edith Cowan University in Perth, Western Australia, where she uses her expertise in creative technologies to support academics across disciplines to visualise and communicate their research.
Ali's creative research explores how relational design pedagogy can support more sustainable people-place relations and inform pedagogical change. Alongside her research, she runs a ceramics studio, teaching adults and young people a practice that feeds directly into her thinking about what it means to learn through creative practice.
Ali’s favourite tools are the pen tool, red terracotta clay and brush pens, a combination that reflects her belief that technology is a creative medium and that rich design thinking happens when digital practice meets material thinking.
