Dr. Charlie Miller is an education innovator and entrepreneur best known as the founder of Flipgrid, a social learning platform now used by over 100 million students, educators, and families worldwide. As Corporate Vice President of Social Learning at Microsoft, he led the platform’s integration after its 2018 acquisition, shaping its role in fostering global student engagement. Prior to Microsoft, Charlie was a tenured Associate Professor at the University of Minnesota and Executive Director of the Institute for Design Innovation, with over 100 peer-reviewed publications on learning, community, and design.

Recognized as a Distinguished Alumni of the University of Minnesota, a Minneapolis Business Journal 40 Under 40 honoree, and a Minnesota Tech Titan, Charlie’s impact bridges education and tech innovation. He currently serves on the Board of Directors at Capstone, supporting early literacy and professional development for PreK–5 educators. His work continues to shape how learning happens—through community, creativity, and connection.
