
Dr. Andrew Rechnitz
Assistant Vice Provost, Creative Technologies & Media Engagement, Texas State University.
Dr. Rechnitz serves as Assistant Vice Provost for Creative Technologies & Media Engagement at Texas State University, where he leads initiatives that integrate emerging technologies, immersive media, and applied learning into the academic experience. He oversees a network of interdisciplinary spaces and programs supporting faculty innovation, student success, workforce-aligned micro-credentials, and community-engaged learning. His work focuses on building sustainable infrastructure for teaching, research, and creative practice through cross-campus collaboration, external partnerships, and strategic program development.
Before joining TXST, Rechnitz held leadership, faculty, and digital scholarship roles at Southwestern University, the University of Texas at Austin, and Colorado State University. As a CLIR and Mellon Postdoctoral Fellow in Digital Scholarship at Southwestern University, he led the development of emerging technology labs, digital fabrication spaces, and virtual reality learning environments while consulting with faculty on digital pedagogy and research. At UT Austin, he served in multiple instructional and administrative roles across the Department of Rhetoric and Writing and the DiNitto Career Center, with a focus on digital rhetorics, workforce communication, and instructional design. His earlier career includes teaching in higher education and adult learning environments, technical writing, and ESL instruction in both domestic and international settings.
